These are genuine mitutoyo calipers, there's not really much more to say about them. They work perfectly, they measure perfectly, the battery lasts forever and the absolute measurement means you never need to zero the calipers. Yes, these are expensive, significantly more expensive than the 150mm version but that extra 50mm over a 'standard' caliper makes a big difference - many times I've maxed out a standard caliper, the 200mm range is well worth having. Whilst cheap digital calipers are generally very good, they can be a bit hit and miss. Measurements with cheap calipers are typically very good, but they don't always run smoothly or can have points where the measurement skips, the steel isn't as hard as quality calipers and the grind of the faces isn't as good. The Mitutoyos of course exhibit none of these issues, they are incredibly smooth across the entire range, the steel is exceptional and the grinding is perfect. It doesn't matter how fast you open/close the calipers, it will never miss a step, and zero is always exactly zero. This model is not coolant proof, so not good for machinists, but they are perfect for engineers working at a desk or clean environment. Mitutoyo do of course have the coolant proof/waterproof version for use in a machine shop.
